Uninstalling Packages
While you are viewing information about any package, you can choose the Unin-
stall button below the tab sections to remove that software package from your
computer.
When you choose Uninstall, all files associated with a software package are
removed, and changes to configuration files are reversed.
NOTE: If you uninstall a software package, the files are no
longer included on your system. You must use your Open-
Linux CDROM (or other product files that you might have
uninstalled) in order to re-install the software package.
Searching for Packages and Files
The kpackage utility enables you to search for a package on your system by
name, to see if it’s installed or not.
To search for a package on your OpenLinux system:
1.
Log in as root.
2.
Start the kpackage utility.
3.
Choose File|Find Package.
A search dialog box appears.
4.
Enter the name of the package that you want to search for on your
system.
You can use just part of the name if the substring checkbox is selected in
the search dialog box. If you do this, you can choose Find repeatedly to
find the next package whose name includes your search term.
5.
Choose Find.
